Beautifully Bucolic Maternity Session
August 1, 2014

As sometimes happens, going into this photo session we didn't know precisely where we wanted to take the photos. Most often it works out that the client's house has nice light indoors or a pretty outdoor space. Or we move to a local park or just walk around outside. For Melody's maternity session, the plans had been left open, but as I drove up to her place I knew exactly where we would have the shoot -- an expansive cow pasture right next door.Â
Â
Melody and her family were game, so we packed up some water and a picnic blanket, and crossed through the barbed wire. Sure, we had to dodge cow patties and sway away deer flies, but thankfully the cows were all tucked into the next pasture. It was a beautiful spot that perfectly captured rural Costa Rica, and we even had some cameo appearances by a calf and photo-bombing deer.Â
